Prince William's praise for rangers who protect 'awe-inspiring' rhinos

Episode four of Prince William's series Guardians is out, and it features words from the royal himself, who highlights the severe rhino poaching crisis and praises rangers in Kruger National Park for their courage and care in the episode's introduction.

He honoured heroes like Cathy Dreyer, Felicia, and Lucas, who have protected rhinos and nurtured orphans. With rhinos facing extinction, William stressed that hope lies in dedication. The series was released on BBC Earth and is being shown at cinemas across the UK.

King's birthday honours

The King's birthday honours will be revealed tonight and David Beckham will officially be able to celebrate his big milestone.

These honours usually shine a light on a mix of famous faces, public servants, and everyday heroes who've gone the extra mile for their communities.

They’re handed out twice a year – once for the monarch's official birthday in June, and again at New Year.

We can't help but wonder… who else will make the list?

King Frederik's rare PDAs for Queen Mary

King Frederik and Queen Mary are wrapping up their three-day trip to the Faroe Islands on Friday, and it's been full of sweet moments. On their second day, they stopped by a kindergarten and even planted a tree in Tvøroyri on the island of Suduroy. But what really caught people’s attention were the subtle displays of affection—like the moment King Frederik put his arm around Queen Mary as she leaned in with a smile. So cute!

Royal Foundation launches mental health pilot in Early Years settings

Big news from the Princess of Wales ahead of Trooping the Colour. The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood has announced a new 12-month pilot project called Happy Little Minds, in collaboration with Barnardo's and Place2Be. The initiative aims to explore how mental health professionals can support social and emotional development in babies and young children within early education settings.

Key Details:

  1. Two nurseries in Tower Hamlets and Hackney will participate.
  2. Nearly 50 early years staff will receive specialised training and ongoing support from mental health practitioners.
  3. Around 150 children and families are expected to benefit.
  4. Practitioners will also offer guidance to parents and direct support to children.
  5. The project is informed by the Shaping Us Framework, launched by the Centre earlier this year.

King Charles' medals explained

How fabulous is it to see King Charles in his element, dressed in full military uniform?

Although the King never undertook active military service, unlike his younger brother, Prince Andrew and son Prince Harry, he still wears medals. These reflect his lack of combat experience.

Calling all Princess of Wales fans

Princess Kate's 2023 Trooping look is a winner in our eyes

Hands up who is excited to see Princess Kate in all her sartorial splendour at the King's birthday parade this Saturday? Ahead of her – no doubt stunning – appearance, we called upon HELLO!'s Fashion and Beauty News Editor, Laura Sutcliffe, to share her favourite Trooping outfit of Kate’s.

Her winner, hands-down? The Princess of Wales' 2023 look. "As a fashion editor, I enjoy bold colours and statement items, and Kate's jewel green ensemble was so fashion-forward and modern.

"Because the milestone royal event takes place in June, it's often warm, which means a pastel colourway features heavily on the balcony at Buckingham Palace. Although it looks fresh, it can be quite predictable, which is why Kate's Andrew Gn coat dress featuring opulent crystal embellishments excited me.

"I just wasn't expecting it, and the colour went magnificently with her skin tone. I also loved the way she paid homage to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, by wearing her sapphire earrings, which infused her look with a nostalgic touch."

King Charles' speech in full

King Charles delivered a Presentation of New Colours to The Coldstream Guards in their 375th Year

Discover King Charles' full speech ahead of his big birthday parade... The monarch was speaking to the Presentation of New Colours to The Coldstream Guards in their 375th Year.

It gives me enormous pride, as your Colonel-in-Chief, to be able to present these new Colours to you today in the presence of the wider Regimental family, and particularly in the year you celebrate your impressive 375th Anniversary.

Since your formation in 1650, the Regiment has enjoyed arecord of service that has been second to none, including that pivotalmoment in 1660 when the Regiment set off from Coldstream, on thebanks of the River Tweed, to ensure the Restoration of the Monarchy– and so it was that King Charles II signed the warrant for your Colours in 1669.

How fortuitous that I now have the honour and privilege of presenting your Colours some 365 years later. Over the many wars and countless heroic actions of the Regiment, these Colours, encompassing your richly-deserved battle honours, are a gallant testament to the outstanding courage, fortitude and spirit that the Regiment has always displayed throughout very nearly 400 years of our nation’s history.

Each and every one of you on parade today is now part of that great legacy...In recent years, the Regiment has continued to serve with immense distinction, including your significant contribution to operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as in supporting security forces across Africa.

Meanwhile, at home, you played an indispensable role during the Covid pandemic and have most recently done so much to support both Ukraine, and the United Kingdom’s security, by training Ukrainian forces to enable them to defend their homeland with the benefit of your unmatched experience.

I realise all too well that the determination and dedication you show in your service could not be possible without the same commitment from your loved ones. And so, to you, the families, I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks for your tremendous, unwavering support and encouragement. It is fitting that here, today, the entire Coldstream community is brought together.

As your Colonel-in-Chief, I bestow these Colours into your safe-keeping in the knowledge that you will continue to uphold the very highest standards of military prowess and indomitable spirit that your Regiment has shown over the last 375 years, no matter what lies ahead.

Lastly, I must say how very much I look forward to seeing the King’s Colour again tomorrow, under the steady hand of the Ensign, Lieutenant Max Martin, as Number Seven Company provides the Escort for Trooping The Colour.

Nulli Secundus, Coldstreamers.

Shoe designer Lisa Kay was at the reception for the King's Award for Enterprise on Thursday and revealed that the King opened about his wife's love for "a heel that is not too narrow".
